Our Customers

Our customers are everyday people, both singles and couples, with slightly more females than males. 65% are aged between 30 and 50 years and otherwise range in age from 18 to over 70. In our experience a specific age has little to do with mental or physical fitness.

Many customers book as single travelers, usually because they could not find a friend to come with them and do not wish to travel by themselves and miss out on experiencing New Zealand.

You don't have to be an experienced camper or a hiking fanatic to travel with us. You simply need to enjoy good health, be able to carry a backpack and have a relaxed and tolerant approach to others. You should also be prepared to give up some home comforts and ensure that you’re weatherproof.

The appreciation and love of nature is really what all our customers have in common, as well as the belief that by hiking in a country you can explore it more intensively and get to know it better.

Camping in open, untouched nature and Sidetracks travel style allows even people with no experience to get a real taste of the outdoors and an up-close and personal encounter and discovery of New Zealand. Often participants on our camping tours are more than glad to have given up a few comforts and enjoy the unique closeness to nature and potential to get a real sense of freedom as well as refreshed senses and energy. However, there is nothing wrong with preferring a roof above your head and a bit more comfort and we ensure that either way nature comes first.

Group members tend to stay in touch long after tours have finished and form long lasting friendships. Many soon plan their next trip to New Zealand!
